Or maybe not. I suppose this silly little comic is inspired by two of my favourite Cartoonists. Bill Waterson, and Mick Harrison He does little comics like this only his are good, well better than good. Go have a gander at his work, you won't be dissapointed I tell ya.

Yes, this isn't really very funny and its pretty much wierd just for the sake of it. I'm not even sure if it reads well, so don't be afraid to tell me how it is!

Hi folks

Well, College is over and I'm now out of the little safety bubble. I must admit its all abit daunting. I've come to conclusion that I'm going to have to work alot better and harder to get to where I want to be. I think there's flaws in my work which I want to iron out, however its a good feeling when you realise you're not as close as you thought you were.

In the past I always used to draw in my sketch book, but now I find myself getting bogged down in doing finished illustrations and always going for gold. So, I've decided to start from the bottom again and just get drawing as much as I can, learn new skills, programs, and sketch everyday to keep loose and hopefully become more employable

Anyhow, here's a warm up I did just to get the ol' creative juices flowing, hopefully there will be more of this to come over the next few weeks and months and we'll be able to see some improvements.

I do have a couple of exciting projects going on though, I'm working on a pull out comic for the lovely writer Daniel Clifford www.danielclifford.co.uk This is just about wrapped up, and then we'll be working on a secret project that I'm not allowed to talk about, but is pretty exciting. Comics is something I didn't really think I'd fall into, but there you go. As I mentioned earlier hopefully all this hard work and practice will pay off in the quality of the comics too.

Another rare sighting

Argh, I wish I posted more than once every two months. I think I'll make that my new mission, to post more. Ahem

Anyway, college is nearly over, and I'm looking forward to getting out into the big, bad, real world, although in a few months I might be saying otherwise. But I'm excited about building up my portfolio and developing my skills and what not.

For now though, he's a couple of things to show I haven't been completley lazy. I'm still making an effort to try and keep everything much more simple and easy on the eye...although looking at the artwork I'm posting its hard to see that, one for the future eh?

Here's a skateboarder done just for fun, cause its like totally radical man.

I recently did a few illustrations for a Novel Magazine based here in Newcastle, the idea was based around Film Noir with a nursery ryhme twist. I think its getting published tomorrow so this should be okay to post! I'll post the rest when the issue is out.

And finally, I've been meaning to post this one for a while. A couple of months ago I spent some time on work experience at the excellent Paul Windle Design. I learnt a thing or two or three or four of the guys there and have an all round great time. While I was there I worked on a pretend brief as a kind of final project thing, and below is the end result. Ain't it cute.

I'm definitley going for a flat colour approach at the moment. I've been making a real effort to keep my lines nice and clean, whereas in the past they've been abit all over the place.

Yep, tomorrow I'm back to college and in badly prepared preperation I've put together some quick character designs for my final film which will be completed this year.

I've been a wee bit busy lately doing some colouring books and jigsaws for a thearte company, its been alot of fun and I've been learning on the job which is always good I reckon.

The aim was to pick an object and design a character around it, I chose a super hot chilli cooking oil bottle which has a funny little mexican hat on the lid. Over at Deviant Art there's a great group called Design A Character http://design-a-character.deviantart.com/ which is ran by a nice lad called Luigi. Every week he posts up some random shapes and all the members draw some faces from them, then you pick one and do a turnaround or design

Anyhow, this is my entry this week. The whole thing has turned out to be a great exercise for me, breaking down those line boundries that were starting to creep up, if anyone is interested then I would sign up

Sketch Crawl Nov 09

Today me and two other artist folks braved the elements and took part in the 25th Sketchcrawl.

I travelled the 25 odd miles to Whitley Bay, near Newcastle. It was a fantastic experience, despite the weather. I spent alot of time drawing folk at the local skatepark. We also spent alot of time drinking coffee and drawing in a cafe.

Anyhow, heres a sample of the work I did. You can also see the work the other two guys I went with, Dom and Eddy, did, here. phew.

Since I last posted, alot has happended but basically I have gotten onto an Animation Degree course at Newcastle College, which is pretty cool. As of yesterday I am also doing live caricatures, I'll upload the pics I took asap
